Thank you for visiting my 'work in progress' project. Suffolk Gallery contains pictures of the people and places that make Suffolk such a unique and beautiful place and the subject of numerous artists such as Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable.
Suffolk encapsulates all that is special about East Anglia, the vast skies and beautiful cloud formations often regarded the sole province of the Cambridge Fens can be seen over Suffolk at any time. A coastline of natural beauty, mud flats, sand bars and copious wildlife rivals anything that can be found in Norfolk. The RSPB's flagship nature reserve is at Minnesmere, not far from the dramatic coastline of Dunwich beach.
Arts and crafts predominate around the whole county with particular focus on places like Aldeburgh, Snape, Woodbridge and Ipswich.
But this is no quiet backwater of England. Suffolk has some of the busiest roads in the country (but here it is easy to get away from them) and we have one of the busiest ports in the country: Felixstowe. When it comes to industrial activity Suffolk hasn't been left out. We have a wide range of industries and a drive up the A14/A12 past Europark and the extensive building programmes will adequately demonstrate the attractiveness of this county as a commercial centre. And of course we cannot forget Sizewell nuclear power station on the coast.
For food lovers there are excellent restaurants and pubs with top class meals using local produce. For beer lovers we have one of the best breweries in the country: Adnams of Southwold whose range of special and everyday beers can be found in most Suffolk pubs.
Finally, I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures on this site but do please bear in mind that this is a work in progress. I am particularly aware that some of the photographs do not do justice to their subject. This is due largely to the poor light conditions at the time of taking the photograph, rest assured I will replace these images as soon as possible. If I have not provided enough information about a place or a picture, please send me an email with the necessary information and I will endeavour to add it. However, this isn't meant to be a commercial tourist guide to Suffolk nor is it a record of particular events, it is my personal view of all that is interesting, attractive and photogenic.
